Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is typically a pretty laid back individual when it comes to his status between fights.
Now, as he looks to recover from a gruesome leg injury suffered this past weekend at UFC 168 against Chris Weidman, “The Spider” is asking fans to let him recover.
“I want to thank all my fans and friends for their support and caring messages, I’m fine now and I need to be with my family, a good rest with my children and wife will help me in recovery. Thanks Brazil,” he posted on Instagram after his surgery.
Silva suffered a broken leg, having a rod inserted into his tibia. He had a leg kick checked by Weidman, which landed directly on the champions knee cap.
Rough estimates say three-to-six months for the 38-year-old Silva to recover.
