After being sidelined with a serious knee injury since her winning performance as the underdog against Miesha Tate, UFC women’s bantamweight fighter Cat Zingano has been cleared to make her return against the dangerous Brazilian Amanda Nunes on September 28, 2014 at UFC 178: Jones vs Gustafsson 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nunes (9-3, 2-0 UFC) has tasted victory twice in the Octagon so far. It took her less than six minutes to dispose of Sheila Gaff and Germaine de Randamie, both by referee stoppage. She has lost to lesser competition in the past, but who knows how much her opponent’s layoff can take effect on her big return.

Zingano (8-0, 1-0 UFC) was flying under the radar before she busted up Tate in April 2013 to win by TKO in round three. She has been nursing injuries on both of her knees, while also mourning the death of her husband (details here). She was previously in line to face Ronda Rousey for the title before the injury put her out of action for the remainder of 2013.
