Ok, this right here may be candidate for most useless and stupid post of the year, but a conversation between some of my peers and myself on MMA led to one of my friends making a comment about how the UFC is fixed, not in the athletic sense of competition but in the way a fighter is marketed and how fight cards are set up, IE Rampage's "retirement" and Evan's win over Thiago Silva, Brock Lesnars origanally stated life threatening illness to a miracle recovery, all the while Mir is ballooning himself in size and reinventing himself after Lesnar's approach to fighting..all building to a "wrestlemania" style climactic and epic meeting that is over-hyped (If Carwin come's out in his fight against Mir looking lack-luster/ not performing to the level he is known like Thiago did against Rashaad or loses due to a poor decision by the judges after 3 rounds).
These comments made me start questioning if my friend knew what he was talking about and then he dropped the real bomb in his follow up to those statements when he said that both Jet Li and Jean Claude Van Dam attempted to enter UFC and were both denied contracts because Dana White and the rest of his business partners decided they posed too much of a risk to their fighters and in turn the credibility of their company and sport.
Has anybody else heard anything about any of this because while I'm not the most educated MMA head I do know a thing or two about a thing or two and I have never heard anything like this...My head is spinning from this shit.
