**Francis vs Stipe at UFC 220**

Postby bruins2012 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 8:56 pm

One of the most fascinating heavyweight title fights in recent memory has been booked. And we won’t have to wait very long for it.

Stipe Miocic will defend the belt against Francis Ngannou in the main event of UFC 220 on Jan. 20 in Boston, sources confirmed with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Wednesday. MMAjunkie was the first to report the news.

Ngannou (11-1) is coming off a huge, first-round knockout over Alistair Overeem just last weekend at UFC 218 in Detroit. The Cameroon native by way of France has won all six of his UFC fights, all of them by finish and all but one coming in the first round. The 6-foot-5 Ngannou, 31, recently moved from Paris to Las Vegas, where he trains at the UFC Performance Institute. He’s bein pegged by the promotion as a future superstar.

Miocic (17-2) would set the UFC record for most heavyweight title defenses at three with a win over Ngannou. The Cleveland area native has won his last five fights, all by knockout. Miocic, 35, won the belt from Fabricio Werdum in May 2016 and has successfully defended it against Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos.

UFC 220 already had a viable main event. Daniel Cormier will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Volkan Oezdemir on the card. That matchup has now been bumped down to the co-main event to make away for Miocic vs. Ngannou.

I believe that Ngannou should be banned from fighting humans.

IMO, Miocic is next to fall. After that, just start lining up whoever is willing to fight him. You'd have to give me 'absurd Nate Diaz asking money' to even hold pads for this guy. What's really scary is that his striking is still unrefined, but improving with ever fight. The guy hits so hard that no one has time to figure out any weakness. He will lose to maybe JDS? just because of how great Junior is at keeping range while standing, but he may not be the same fighter he once was. idk.

idgaf, I wanna see Ngannou vs. Lesnar.

If I were stipe i would give away the first two rounds by wall and stalling and machidaing around the cage. It's either lose two points on the scorecards or get knocked out.

Hopefully a slightly tired Ngannou, going into round 3, is a less powerful monster to slay. At this point, I would try and wrestle him. If that fails, randy couture him against the cage.

I would stay away from anything that resembles punching range unless Ngannou is significantly tired.

This is gunna be great.

as an American all i have to say is

I will be cheering for Ngannou, and hoping he finishes Stipe in a similar fashion as he did Overeem.

Definitely rooting for Ngannou on this but we haven't seen many a different facet of his/the game...arguably unwarranted but stoked on this fight

It appeared that out of fear of Ngannou's power Overeem became tentative and hesitated within striking range and Ngannou figured out quick in the first few exchanges that he could throw heat without too much risk of getting countered. I believe Stipe has to fight without hesitation, without fear and trust his instincts, but also fight smart. He is faster than Ngannou and has better technical boxing, but he gives up some reach.

GREAT fucking fight.

I got Ngannou on this.
The guy is getting bigger and heavier. He put on 9lbs since his last fight, so likely be 270ish when he takes on stipe.
if sitpe goes for take down one uppercut or knee its over.

imagine taking low blow from nagannou :lolol:

Don't overthink this fellas.

Stipe is a dead man walkn :skullsad:

Ngannou won't be pinned up against the cage, gl taking him down, ain't no chance in hell he can be held down.. He is a diff breed, Stipe will be legit stuck n the cage w/a Predator, the only question at hand is how quickly will he get murked..

I'm guessing under 3min mark flat :rip:

100000000% i think dies.

Stipe is going to back out of the fight and they will do Nganouuu vs Werdum for the interm.

If stipe is smart he will just hand it right over and goto the WWE

Nganouuu is fuckin beyond a beast. It's not even fair lol
