Friday’s UFC Fight Night 50 not televised in Canada, streams on UFC Fight Pass

Sorry, UFC fans in Canada. If you’re planning to watch UFC Fight Night 50 on Friday, you’ll have to find a computer screen instead of a television set.

UFC events typically air in Canada on one of the Rogers Sportsnet platforms; however, that won’t be the case when the UFC hits Foxwoods Casino Resort in Ledyard, Conn., with one of the most anticipated UFC Fight Night events in recent history.

Scheduling conflicts with a Toronto Blue Jays MLB game and WWE wrestling have forced the UFC off television and on to UFC Fight Pass, the organization’s online subscription network.

“Looks like Friday’s UFC event is Fight Pass Only,” Sportsnet’s Joe Ferraro announced on Twitter:

UFC Fight Pass subscriptions cost $9.99 per month and provide access to not just UFC Fight Night 50, but also numerous other live events, past fights and a variety of exclusive content.

Sportsnet has been home to essentially every live UFC event over the past several years, but with UFC Fight Night 50 running on Friday – not a usual Saturday-night slot – it appears the organization was unable to find a way to televise the event live in Canada.

The full UFC Fight Night 50 lineup includes:

MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 9 p.m. ET)

  • Gegard Mousasi vs. Ronaldo Souza
  • Alistair Overeem vs. Ben Rothwell
  • Derrick Lewis vs. Matt Mitrione
  • Michael Chiesa vs. Joe Lauzon

  • John Moraga vs. Justin Scoggins

PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 7 p.m. ET)

  • Chris Beal vs. Tateki Matsuda
