Resurrection Fighting Alliance [1] held its first event this past Friday night in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the promotion is already looking forward to doing more shows next year. With the merger between RFA and Titan Fighting Championship, the company is hoping to do as many as 12 events in 2013. RFA President Ed Soares says he would be upset if they only did 8 events next year. Soares told MMAJunkie: [2] Our goal is to do 10 to 12 shows next year, he said. I would hope we could do eight to 10 because what we’re shooting for and what we do is sometimes different. But I would be very upset if we didn’t do at least eight shows next year. Since the merger, RFA wants everyone to know that they are a better organization, but they aren‘t interested in competing with the UFC. Rather than compete against them, Soares feels they could be a feeder organization for the promotion. It was like we’re forming an alliance to better the sport…We’re stronger together than we were separate. The problem is the talent pool of fighters is every day getting bigger, and unfortunately, the opportunity pool is getting smaller and smaller, Soares said. I embrace all MMA events that are coming up because that’s more opportunities for the fighters, and whatever I can do to further the sport, that’s what I’m all about.   Photo: MMAFighting.com [1] http://www.fightline.com/fl/events/ [2] http://mmajunkie.com/news/31443/ed-soares-resurrection-fighting-alliance-targeting-up-to-10-shows-in-2013.mma?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mmajunkie+%28MMAjunkie.com+Feed%29
