Weigh-ins are never a smooth process. As we learn in episode of No. 4 of “UFC 183 Embedded,” that was especially true this week.
“Embedded,” the online series that previews tonight’s pay-per-view card at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, takes us behind the scenes of Friday’s weigh-in fiasco.
We see Miesha Tate (15-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) as “Cupcake” finds a relaxing way to cut weight for her 135-pound bantamweight bout with Olympian and fellow featured-prelim fighter Sara McMann (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC).
However, when UFC officials and the production crew realizes Kelvin Gastelum (10-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) is badly going to miss weight, they scramble to make the needed preparations. Opponent Tyron Woodley (14-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC), meanwhile, is surprisingly understanding when he talks to Gastelum backstage.
Headliners Anderson Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) and Nick Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC) also make an appearance.
