Video: Anderson Silva details comeback plans, denies wrongdoing

TORRANCE, Calif. – Anderson Silva is happy again, and that could mean bad things for UFC Fight Night 84 opponent Michael Bisping.

Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) will face off with Bisping (27-7 MMA, 17-7 UFC) at the Feb. 27 event at London’s 02 Arena. The fight will be his first since testing positive for multiple banned substances following his win over Nick Diaz at UFC 183 and serving a year-long suspension.

Bisping has been very vocal about Silva’s offenses, including at today’s open workout event where he claimed that he didn’t know how Silva could call himself a martial artist after being caught using performance enhancing drugs. Silva responded to the talk at the same event.

“The past is the past, I didn’t want to get too much into that,” Silva told MMAjunkie in his native Portuguese. “I wanted everyone to know that I’m not a liar and unfortunately it didn’t come off that way, but I always told the truth. I never used any sort of PED. I’m excited to get back in there and fight and, who knows, maybe even fight for a title.”

When pressed to explain if Bisping’s talk was bothering him at all, Silva made it clear that he’s been in the game for far too long to be bothered.

“Come on, people,” Silva said. “I’ve been in this sport for a long time. People have said a lot of things, but once the octagon door closes, it always changes.”

After a year out of the cage, Silva said he’s excited to get back to doing what he does best. And excitement breeds happiness.

Happiness that could mean very bad things for Bisping. Longtime manager Ed Soares has been along for the ride, and he believes Silva is ready to stage an epic comeback.

“He’s happy and, like I’ve said in past interviews, a happy Anderson is dangerous to his opponent,” Soares said.
