Alexandre Franca "Pequeno" Nogueira is an Brazilian Luta Livre fighter, as well as a former Lightweight (143 lb.) champion in the Shooto organization, based out of Japan. Nogueira began his professional career at the age of 21, defeating Noboru Asahi with a guillotine choke. He also holds the record for longest title reign in any MMA organization with him reigning as Shooto Champion for six years, eight months, and two days.
The California State Athletic Commission suspended Alexandre Nogueira one year and has fined him $2,500 for failing a drug test at a June 1, 2008 WEC show. Nogueira tested positive for Boldenone.
After a year hiatus from the sport, Nogueira announced in September 2009 that he would return to mixed martial arts in October of that year to take on Takeshi Inoue. The fight took place at Vale Tudo Japan 2009 on October 30, 2009, and Nogueira lost his return bout due to TKO (Punches) in the fourth round. Though not a title bout, the fight was still a five-round affair.
