Marcus Brimage’s road back to the UFC has been seriously delayed. The featherweight fighter sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon while training on Wednesday, and as a result, he expects to be out of action for approximately six-to-nine months, according to his manager Lex McMahon.Marcus will undergo surgery next week and will immediately begin rehab, McMahon said. Marcus sought out several opinions from well-respected experts and based on the information available, Marcus is confident that he has chosen the right doctor and course treatment to ensure that he returns to the Octagon as quickly as possible.Marcus wants to personally thank Dana White, (matchmaker) Sean Shelby, and the UFC for the tremendous amount of support they have provided. Additionally, Marcus wants to thank his fans for their love and support and he promises he will return with a vengeance. According to McMahon, Brimage had yet to secure his next fight from the UFC. The 6-2 fighter is coming off a first-round TKO loss to Conor McGregor in April. The loss, his first in the UFC, snapped Brimage’s four-fight winning streak.
