The Big Picture: Lightweight Division

Taking a look at the “Big Picture” of the UFC’s lightweight division we can see what is coming up in the future, who is unscheduled at the moment, and some predicted match ups that I would personally like to see. There will be more “Big Picture” blogs as I will hit every division over a period of time and after any big news happens in the division.

In my opinion, the highlight of this division is obviously Henderson/Diaz for the UFC’s Lightweight Title. An interesting note, the former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar, has reported that he will be dropping down to the featherweight division (145 lbs). Also, the long-time UFC contender, Diego Sanchez, will be looking to make another trip down to lightweight. His opponent is unnamed, but I would like to see him face someone like Mac Danzig; someone who is knocking at the door in contendership, and is a tough fight for anyone. This will show us whether Sanchez really means business down at 155, or if he is just looking to try and keep his name relevant.

Another interesting note is the fact that former top contender Jim Miller is without an opponent. I would look for him to face someone like Clay Guida, another former top contender whom Jim Miller has not faced yet.

Check out the rest below and take the opportunity to really see what is going on in the UFC’s most competitive division, but a “Big Picture”.
