UFC on Fuel 7 results: Tom Watson wins slugfest against Stanislav Nedkov

Tom Kong Watson is the sort of fighter who places exciting fights at a premium, win or lose. Saturday, the British middleweight proved why. Watson survived a late first-round flurry and rallied to defeat hard-hitting Stanislav Nedkov at UFC on Fuel 7 in London. Watson won via TKO at 4:43 of the second round. I told everybody this time all I want to do is commit exciting fights, said Watson. I don’t care if I win or lose. For the first four minutes of round one, Watson looked like a British Anderson Silva, as he picked Nedkov apart with knees and elbows in the Muay Thai clinch. Nedkov’s punches started finding a home late in the round. He dropped Watson and landed a vicious series of hammerfists, but Watson managed to hold out until the horn. In the second round, Nedkov scored an early takedown, but he gassed out. When the fight got back standing, Watson put on another Muay Thai clinic, as he landed knees and short elbows. Referee Kevin Mulhall finally called off the carnage. The 30-year-old Watson improved to 16-5 with his first UFC win. Nedkov, who was making his middleweight debut, dropped to 12-1 with one no-contest. After the fight, Watson, a native of Southampton, had a word for testosterone replacement therapy users. There’s an epidemic, TRT, I want to call out anyone who’s on those drugs, said Watson. Come fight me next.
