Saturday night’s Ronny Markes vs. Derek Brunson fight has been canceled after Markes was injured in a car accident Friday morning in Brazil. The UFC on FUEL TV 10 middleweight fight was scrapped later in the day after Markes was determined unfit to fight, UFC president Dana White confirmed with MMAFighting.com. According to White, Markes suffered a concussion in the car accident and also injured his back and neck. White also confirmed that both fighters will receive their show money. As a result, 12 fights will now take place on Saturday night’s card in Fortaleza, Brazil. Markes (14-1), a winner in his last seven in a row, most recently defeated Andrew Craig via unanimous decision in January, while Brunson (10-2) won his Octagon debut against Chris Leben at UFC 155 in December. FUEL TV will have an update on Markes’ condition during its weigh-in show at 3 p.m. ET.
